There’s something strangely compelling about watching a stranger staring at his computer screen. I know, because I’m doing it right now. Stickam, which launched officially on February 15th 2006, is essentially a widget for your blog or website that allows you to display a live webcam and conduct video chats on the site itself. The guy I’m watching – Urkman – is currently scratching his chin, Kauracakes is resting her hand on her chin, I just had to put toasty on ignore cause he was screaming bloody murder. Clearly, I need to get out more.

It is a cool piece of technology, with the ability to live stream your webcam to your profile and have your own personal chatroom it’s actually kind of cool.

All in all Stickam is pretty interesting and could gain traction with the emo kids. Meanwhile, all of us prosumer types will scratch our heads continue to wonder how these sites make their living.
