JailbreakI know this is nothing new to some of you because you jailbroke your phone a while ago but to those who were skeptics about the process such as I was then you should read on.

I waited to jailbreak my phone especially after the first pass of people getting OWNED by Apple when they went to update their iPhone software. I did not see anything worth opening up my phone for, but over the last month I have seen some really cool stuff come out.

Yesterday Apple announced that the new iPhone would be out on June 9th so I thought, why not. I will be getting a new phone next month anyway. First I will outline the process I took for jailbreaking my phone. Then I will talk about what I love about it.

Jailbreaking my iPhone: I used iFuntastic to unShackle my phone. The process took a matter or minutes. Here is how it works. (I am using a Mac, sorry PC peeps)

1. Connect your iPhone to your computer using your USB cord.
2. Download and open iFuntastic.
3. Choose Setup from the side menu.
4. Notice your iPhone’s software. (I recommend updating your iPhone to 1.1.4 before unShackling the phone.)
5. Click UnShackle 1.1.4 (or whatever version software your iPhone is running)
6. iTunes will shutdown and the install will take place. Your iPhone will restart and iTunes will reopen. (A time out menu will be up, if it takes longer then the timer allows and the process times out, restart the Unshackle process.)
7. iTunes will reactivate your iPhone. When it says it is complete, Quit iTunes.
8. The Unshackle process will complete and your iPhone has been Jailbroken.

You will now notice an app called Installer which is the program you will use to install new apps to your phone. Installer has a lot of good stuff preloaded into it. I recommend installing the following Apps. I have included links so you can read more on them before installing them. These are all Apps that are loaded into the Installer already, you do not need to download them from the developer website.

1. Twinkle
2. iFlickr
3. Camera Pro
4. Capture
5. Video Recorder
6. iCalls
7. Pool 2.0
8. Touch Touch Revolution
9. NES

The most fun I have had so far was playing RC Pro Am on my iPhone. The installation process of NES ROMS was a bit tedious. What you have to do is plug in your iPhone, open up iFuntastic, and then click on FileManager. This will show you your iPhones file directories. Be careful what you do from here on out. Now, double click var, double click mobile, double click media.

Now you need to create a new file on your desktop called “ROMs” open that file and add another file called “NES”. Drag and drop the ROMs file into the Media folder in iFuntastic. Disconnect and have fun.

Ok, back to the fun. Well having a camera that zooms is great, playing Nintendo games is great. There really have been no drawbacks so far. From what I can see the iFuntastic team has their stuff together. When another update comes for this version of the iphone, I’m sure they will be on top of it.

I don’t recommend doing anything illegal but I do recommend giving this a try.
