MacBookPro Overheating

I have a MacBookPro (which I will call MBP for short). Last Tuesday, the 14th, Apple sent out a firmware update through the OSX update utility. I nievely installed it assuming like most other updates it should help me out. The update said it was to help with the issues the MBP coming in and out of sleep mode. My MBP was a little sluggish in that area. Well it seems to have a harder time now going in and out of sleep mode and the thing gets so hot now when it is in sleep mode that I can not set it on my lap. The laptop should act like it is off when in sleep mode. The harddrive should stop, fans, processing and all. Not this MBP it must be doing something. I also hear a quiet whining sound that could either be a fan at low RPM or the harddrive. I have read a few other articles where other people have complained about the noise and the heat but nobody seems to be complaining about heat in sleep mode like I am experiencing. I am going to call Apple in the morning and ask them about this because this is not normal.

Here is an article that a guy wrote after looking into his overheating problem it includes him taking apart his MBP, it also includes images. Very good article. Click here to read it
